Lettering can be simply explained as “the art of drawing letters”. Lettering is a specific set of letterforms created for a single purpose. Often lettering is hand-drawn, with pens, graphite or brushes, but some designers prefer to start their work directly in Adobe Illustrator. For our lettering project, we each chose a quote, and created our own lettering design. Then we transfered our design to a negative and used Inkodye to apply the image to an item of our choice. Inkodye works by sun exposure, so by blocking out ares of light with the negative, when the item was exposed, we ended up with our design printed out on a shirt or bag.
